001 as i said in my first youtube video i love films and so i thought i would share with you my favourite ones! the virgin suicides is missing at the moment because i've sent the lisbon sisters to a friend, but they'll be home soon fingers crossed! i also have yet to add lolita and ten things i hate about you to my collection. i would love to know your favourite films and perhaps any you would recommend as a result of seeing some of my favourites! i also thought i would take the time to review a couple since there are far too many underrated films out there!
002 so firstly, the imaginarium of dr. parnassus, not only the beautiful heath ledgers last film, but also a visually beautiful film that possesses a truly incredible and unique story plot. also, lily cole plays the beautiful enchantress of a daughter to dr. parnassus and her acting is a hundred times better then her role in st. trinians.
003 candy is the perfect unconditional love story between candy, an art student, and dan, a poet, after they become hooked on heroin. although there are a few uncomfortable scenes they only come naturally to a film containing drug use, and their story is definitely one of the most poignant.
004 romeo and juliet ranks third in my all time favourite movies, first being the virgin suicides, and second being marie antoinette. i adore baz luhrman's whole interpretation and think its definitely one worth watching. everything is absolutely perfect, from actors to locations, costumes to soundtrack, luhrman does shakespeare justice.
005 no other skins cast do it like cassie, sid, jal, michelle, chris, maxxie, anwar and tony, and that is why i adore the skins series one and two to pieces. i miss them all so much and can't believe characters like minnie and frankie have replaced people like chris and cassie! i mean seriously e4, not cool.
006 whenever i watch midnight in paris i always completely forget how much i love it and enter a state of despair when i realise i don't live in paris, yet.. literally no words can let you know how much i utterly adore this film and its unique story line. i definitely recommend it to literature and paris lovers.
007 anastasia is my favourite animation film (along side the little mermaid) and i'm currently learning about the romanov dynasty in history. although begging a group of high-brow history and politics students (excluding me) to spend a lesson watching this film isn't going too swell, it always goes down well with me.

Lily sweet, I'm going to endeavour to find a copy of Candy today. It looks like an incredibly sad, and I would imagine at times an uncomfortable, film but I love Heath Ledger too much to have that put me off! Thanks for the intro!

Gosh, I love Midnight in Paris so much, such a wonderful film! xxx
ReplyDeleteI love Anastasia too, not enough people seemed to have watched it when they were younger! In fact, I'm pretty down with all of this list... the first cast of Skins were the best by miles (when they sung at the end of the first series?! Genius! What happened that it all went so wrong so fast?!?)
ReplyDeleteThe virgin suicides and lolita are two of my favourite books but I haven't seen the film of either. Which version of lolita is it you've seen? I know there's an older one and a more recent one but I don't know which one is better! Stardust and amelie are great choices too :) xx

I love so many of these films especially submarine, the virgin suicides, clueless and girl interrupted, I've been meaning to watch Candy for ages. I'd recommend anything with Evan Rachel Wood in it especially thirteen and pretty persuasion, and also Nowhere Boy and Melancholia too.

Haven't watched many of your favourites but I will have to they all sound so amazing! Pride and Prejudice is one of my most favourite books and film/adaptions ever, if you like it I recommend Becoming Jane, which is about how she first wrote Pride and Prejudice and what inspired her to write it in the first place!annie x

You have such lovely taste in film! I'm a huge fan of Sofia Coppola and just adore everything she does. Any French film or movie based in Paris goes down well with me too. Have you ever seen Paris, je t'aime? If not, I think you'd love it! I hope to one day live in Paris for a little while too. My absolute favourite city in the world!
